When I was blind, I dreamed of my benefactor. I could not see him, but I knew:
He was kind.
He was a gentleman.
He was a Captain of Industry. He was generous.
He loved art. He had important friends.
And above all, he had a tender heart.
And now that I can see,
I see that he is all that and more. He made my dreams come true.
Aww... I always get teary in the end of this movie.. very lovely post! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene - me, too. And even though I KNOW the girl and the Tramp don't end up together, I can dream, right?

ReplyDeleteYou're right, Val, and in our dreams we can tweak the story a little, no?
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! Only Chaplin could do a silent movie in 1931 and have it become a timeless classic. Thanks, FC!
